I founded Bluespring because I care deeply about the people and institutions working to make a difference in the world. At every stage of my career—from nonprofits to universities to public service—I’ve been drawn to efforts grounded in purpose and built for impact. Laura Cavender, Founder
As a communications strategist with more than 25 years of experience helping leaders tell their story, Laura specializes in executive communications, media strategy, and thought leadership. She brings deep organizational expertise in creating messaging that reaches many stakeholders, and has a strong grasp of how to navigate complex issues,
competing priorities, and high-stakes public scrutiny.
Laura began her career as a journalist in Washington, later serving as a speechwriter at the American Red Cross during and after 9/11/01. She then worked in communications at Georgetown University (where she also received her master’s degree in Communications, Culture, and Technology), before accepting a position at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009, where she supported the university president and led strategic messaging and media outreach for a decade.
Since founding Bluespring Consulting, Laura has continued her work with university presidents, nonprofit leaders, philanthropists, and public institutions to craft messaging campaigns, manage public communications,
and build lasting visibility.
Since 2021, she has served as an elected Commissioner in Haverford Township, Delaware County, where she represents the neighborhoods of Ardmore, Haverford, and Bryn Mawr.
